Budapest is the capital and most popular city in Hungary. There are many tourist over there and also many tourist attractions. You can find many restaurants you might like. Budapest might be some people’s favorite place to visit for it’s history and architectures. If your visiting Budapest these are the places you should visit in Budapest. I recommend going on a cruise at night to look around. You can go on a Dinner Cruise or a Sight Seeing Cruise.
The Parliament Building
The Parliament Building is one of the most beautiful architectures. It’s 96 (315ft) meters high and 265 (869ft) tall. It has 10 courtyards, 27 gates and 691 rooms in the Parliament Building. It’s the second largest Parliament Building in Europe and it’s the second highest building in Budapest along with St. Stephen’s Basilica . At night it glows and it’s a beautiful building to look at night.
St. Stephen’s Basilica
St. Stephen’s Basilica is a Roman Catholic basilica. It’s named after the first king of Hungary Stephen l. St. Stephen Basilica is the largest church in Budapest. It can hold 8,500 people in it. It took more then 50 years to build the Basilica. In 1868 the dome collapsed and it had to be rebuild from almost scratch. Architect Jozsef Hild who was in the lead to rebuild it died 1867. Miklós Ybl who made the Opera house took over It was the sixth largest church building in Hungary before 1920. Today it’s the third largest church building in Hungary.
Fisherman’s Bastion
Fisherman’s Bastion is one of the best monuments in Budapest. It’s one of the most important tourist attraction in Budapest due to it’s unique wide view in Budapest. You can see the view of Chain Bridge, the Hungarian Parliament, the Castle Hill, the Gresham Palace, etc all in one panoramic view.
Matthias Church
Not far from Fisherman’s Bastion comes Matthias Church. The Church of the belief of the Buda Castle.14th-century church named for King Matthias, who married at the Matthis Church.
Buda Castle
Buda Castle has a panoramic view from the Danube River and the Pest side of Budapest. Buda Castle is a historical palace and a palace complex. It used to be a royal palace for royalty.
Heroes’ Square
Heroes’ Square is a large square constructed in 1896 for the happiness of the Magyar Conquest of Hungary. The square has many beautiful statues of heroes in the square.
Chain Bridge
The Széchenyi Chain Bridge is a chain bridge that spans the River Danube between Buda and Pest, the western and eastern sides of Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Designed by English engineer William Tierney Clark and built by Scottish engineer Adam Clark, it was the first permanent bridge across the Danube in Hungary. It was opened in 1849.
Liberty Bridge
Szabadság híd in Budapest, Hungary, connects Buda and Pest across the River Danube. It is the third southernmost public road bridge in Budapest, located at the southern end of the City Centre. It was originally named Ferenc József híd. It was open in1896. It’s length is 1,094 ft and it’s width is 65.94 ft.
Deák Ferenc tér
The Deák Ferenc square, named for Ferenc Deák. Three lines of the Budapest Metro each converge on the station under the square. Major intersection and transport junction in Budapest.
Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden
Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden is the oldest zoo park in Hungary and one of the oldest in the world. It has 1,072 species of animals. It’s located within Városliget Park, unusually for a zoo, it is in the centre of the city.
Memento Park
Memento Park is a park which hold monuments of communist leaders for example Lenin. Memento Park is an open-air museum in Budapest, Hungary, dedicated to monumental statues and sculpted plaques from Hungary’s Communist period. The park was designed by Hungarian architect Ákos Eleőd, who won the competition announced by the Budapest General Assembly in 1991
Buda Tower
The Buda tower was built in the 13th century. After suffering severe damage during World War II and after being closed to the public for decades, the tall and reconstructed tower welcome visitors again and provides an extraordinary panorama with views to some of the most important buildings of Budapest. It re-opened in 2017.
Gellért Hill
Gellért hill is one of the most characteristic sights of Budapest. It has one of the most beautiful views. The 235-metre-high hill which is situated in the 11th district of the city, is a popular beauty spot, which is abound in both historical and natural values. Gellért hill is often referred to as the gem of Budapest and the nature conservation area that belongs to it have been part of the world heritage since 1987. Each year on 20 August the rockets of the ceremonial firework are launched from here.
Gellért hill was named after Bishop Gellért, who played a significant role in the propagation of Christianity in Hungary.
Budapest is a great place to visit in Hungary. It has many more tourist attraction to visit but these ones you might like the best. It’s is a great place to visit. If you are going there I hope you enjoy your stay!
